| OUR AUSSIE "MATES" One day in February of 2001, I received an e-mail from a fellow in Australia named Kevin. He had been surfing the internet for golf sites, and somehow stumbled upon us! Being a golf fanatic like myself, Kevin was very interested in our league, and wanted to start his own league. He asked a few questions about scoring, and the rules, which I was happy to help him with. As news spread throughout our league, the boys were very excited to have a "Sister" league on the other side of the world. I too was very excited, as my new friend Kevin turned out to be a great guy, with an incredible sense of humor. We soon found that we had a lot in common with these blokes. The love of golf, and the love of a good time being at the top of the list. Nicknames were explained, many humors exchanged, and in no time at all their league was up and running with 8 crazy, excited "mates". Appropriately, Kevin became "Smails", after one of his favorite characters in Caddyshack! Click Here to Visit the Australian Fantasy Golf Site. These Blokes are Hilarious! Shortly after the Aussie league began, Smails and I formulated the Fantasy Presidents Cup competition. What a riot this turned out to be! E-mails were flying around from one side of the world to the other, with boasting and predictions from all the participants. The competition has given us all another avenue of Fantasy Golf to enjoy, and created a foundation for long distance friendships. Make sure to check out the Fantasy Presidents Cup section of the site. On a personal note, I want to thank Smails for spreading the joy of Fantasy Golf on his side of the world. It's very rewarding to work together and run these leagues, discuss our own golf games, and share our own lives. I know my children have enjoyed writing to his, and finding out more about Australian life. As Smails said "The world does not end at your own gate!".
